Highland Park has made history by winning its first-ever 5A Division I state championship in volleyball. The Scot’s victory comes in their third appearance at the state tournament, marking a milestone achievement for the program.

The standout of the match was sophomore Sarah Floyd, who earned the tournament’s MVP honors. While her full stats weren’t immediately available, it was clear that A&M Consolidated had no answer for her dominant performance throughout the game. Notably, Floyd is only the second sophomore to win MVP at this

tournament, following Ava Green of Decatur High School.

Despite graduating key seniors like Gigi Whann, who is headed to Arizona, and Brooklyn Bailey, who will be attending Memphis, Highland Park’s future remains bright. Sophomore Sarah Floyd will return, and another rising sophomore, Taylor Toomay, also made a significant impact in the championship game. Additionally, 6’4” junior Allie Hudgins will be back next season, giving the Scotts a strong core to build on.

Congratulations to Highland Park for their historic win in 5A Division I volleyball. With a talented roster returning, this may not be the last time we see the Scots competing for a state title.
