Highland Park Volleyball: Eyes on the State Championship

By Lone Star Sports

The Highland Park volleyball team is on the brink of making history. As they prepare for a pivotal state championship game this Saturday, we sat down with standout players Allie Hudgins and Sarah Floyd to talk about their journey, mindset, and what this moment means for their team and community.

Excitement and Confidence Ahead of the Big Game

Both Allie and Sarah are feeling the energy as the big day approaches. “I feel excited and ready to go out on the court and give it all I have,” Sarah shared. Allie echoed the sentiment, adding, “I feel confident. I think we’re preparing really well and it’s going to be a good game.”

The anticipation isn’t just within the team. The entire Highland Park community is buzzing, eager to see if the team can bring home its first-ever state championship in volleyball.

Treating the State Final Like Any Other Game

With so much at stake, how do the players keep their nerves in check? “We’re going into the game just like it’s another game,” Sarah explained. “We don’t think too much of it as a state game or a really difficult match. We just think of it as a game. As a team, we’re super mentally prepared.”

Allie added, “We’ve done a really good job all season of treating every game as our most important game. We’re going to take that into this game and not treat it as something more.”

The Coach’s Impact: Building a Family

Highland Park’s success isn’t just about talent—it’s about leadership. The players credit their coach for fostering a sense of family and pushing them to be their best. “He puts so much work and effort into everything he does,” Sarah said. “He spends his time watching film, scouting, and helping us improve as a team and as a family. All of that has helped us get this far.”

Allie agreed, noting, “Coming in this year, he was so big on family. That’s one of the reasons we’ve gone so far—we care about each other so much, and he really wants the best for us.”

Rallying the Community

The players know that community support makes a difference. “Having community support is one of the most important things,” Allie said. “It’s such a fun atmosphere when everyone comes and supports us. We really love that everyone comes to our games now.”

Sarah added, “It’s so fun to have everyone show up and cheer us on. It makes it so much more of an experience. So come out and support us—it’s a fun thing to watch, and having everyone there will make it even better.”

Preparing for the Final Challenge

As they get ready to face a tough opponent, the team is focused on discipline and preparation. “We’re working on the shots and things they do well, and also on the things we need to improve,” Sarah said. “Serving, communication, and being prepared for any scenario are key.”

Allie emphasized the team’s determination: “Being disciplined is really important, and I can count on every one of my teammates to take a big swing and lay out for every ball. We’re going to do everything we can.”

Final Thoughts

This Highland Park volleyball team is talented, determined, and ready for the challenge ahead. As they take the court for the state championship, they’re hoping the community will be there to cheer them on.
