Frisco high school football fans are in for a treat this week as two of the city’s top programs face off. On Thursday night at Kuykendall Stadium, the Reedy Lions (2-1) take on the Wakeland Wolverines (3-0) in a matchup with early district implications.
Wakeland Wolverines: Riding Momentum
Wakeland enters the game undefeated, coming off impressive wins against Grapevine, The Colony, and Lebanon Trail. The Wolverines have shown balance on both sides of the ball, and they’ll once again look to their playmakers to set the tone.
Defensively, linebacker Cedric Thornton has been a force, disrupting opposing offenses with his physical play and leadership in the middle. On offense, wide receiver/defensive back Grayson Meyer has been a two-way standout, giving the Wolverines both a reliable target in the passing game and a ballhawk in the secondary.
Reedy Lions: Hungry to Bounce Back
Reedy comes into Thursday night’s matchup at 2-1, with solid wins over Emerson and Sherman. Their lone loss came in a close battle with a talented Lake Ridge squad, giving the Lions plenty of confidence moving forward.
The Lions boast talent on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Lincoln Harn commands the offense and will look to push the tempo against a stout Wakeland defense. On the defensive line, Preston Healy is a name to watch, as his ability to generate pressure could be key in slowing down the Wolverines’ attack.
What to Expect
This game has all the makings of a classic Frisco showdown. Wakeland will try to stay perfect and keep momentum rolling, while Reedy looks to prove themselves against another strong opponent. Fans can expect a hard-hitting battle where the outcome may be decided in the trenches.
